Social dividend

A social dividend is a proposal for allocating surplus/profit generated by publicly-owned enterprises in a socialist economic system. Every member of the community would receive a social dividend, entitling him or her to a share in the product of the publicly-owned enterprises, potentially eliminating the need for social welfare programs and the income redistribution that takes place under capitalism.

The social dividend is a feature present in various market socialist proposals. Oskar Lange proposed that a central planning board allocate social dividends (the profit and rent accrued by public enterprises) to achieve economic growth targets and ensure a reasonable amount of social equality.
